Principal Designer and Fire Compliance
Soldi CDM and Fire was appointed by the London Borough of Southwark as Principal Designer under CDM 2015 for the Canada Water Leisure Centre fit out and FF and E delivery, forming part of the wider Canada Water masterplan.
The role focused on managing design risk, coordinating dutyholders, and overseeing CDM compliance for the internal works, including the swimming pool hall, sports hall, fitness studios, gym facilities, and accessible changing areas.
Alongside the Principal Designer role, Soldi Group provided fire compliance and fire safety coordination, supporting the integration of fire strategy requirements within the detailed design and fit out stages. This included review of compartmentation, means of escape, fire stopping interfaces, and alignment with the approved fire strategy for the building.
The commission was delivered within a live, multi stakeholder environment, requiring close coordination with the client team, designers, contractors, and specialist suppliers to manage safety, compliance, and buildability through to completion.
